RAPIDO UK Reveal NEW "Caledonia" Fireless Model in 00 Gauge - FIRST FOOTAGE!
Absolutely amazing! I am going to use this technique. Thank you!
Looking good. 👍 Even though your layout is almost an exact copy of my planned layout I have raised the frontal area by around 20mm so that the incline is only 2% and creates a scenic lowland in the centre where the shunting yard is. The main difference with mine is that all the outer tracks rise to the same level as the top station but travel over a viaduct and a Bridge into the top station goes over a canal. My trains can also access the upper level in both directions after going through the reverse loop which it looks like you can't? I have introduced Tillig points and MTB motors to give this option.
Dry stone walling in N?? Thank you!! The rigid products are just awful and whilst a smaller scale means less detail - being able to actually do decent curved walls is all I wanted as a modeller. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Couldn't see a link to 'Specialist Aggregates' in your description as you said. Kind regards 😊
Hiya, we’re waiting on them to provide a link to the product as it’s not currently listed on their website. We’re working on it, thanks for watching 👍
I think this technique is the best way. I have only been able to do the technique without static grass. Eventually I will get/make an applicator and do this where you mix both methods! Fantastic work as is usual!
It does show that static grass isn't the only way to go about adding scenics to a layout. Flock and scatter can work just as well and in some cases is even more desirable in smaller scales where static grass can look oversized. Thanks for watching 😃
Seems like the only thing model railroaders on you to make any more is train that just go round an round
That seems like an odd opinion to have, especially since the previous episode focused almost entirely on building a shunting yard... and a few episodes before that I built a terminus station. Thanks for watching 👍
Loving this series. Can I ask where you got the laser cut supports for the upper level from?
Hiya, I laser cut them myself but they are very much overkill. Blocks of wood cut to the same height would work just as well. Thanks for watching 😃
I think the wire is much too shiny, maybe painting it ?
It's been toned down since this was originally filmed. I think I did mention in one of the episodes that my plan for the future was to dull it down slightly, I just didn't have time when I was working to a tight deadline. Thanks for watching 🤩
Did you post a link to the soil texture? Couldn't see one...but I could be blind.
No your eyesight is fine - I went to the website to get the link and couldn't find it 🤦🏻♂️ I've asked them to send it to me but since it's a weekend I'm not expecting a reply until Monday at the earliest. Sorry! Will update as soon as I can. Thanks for watching 😃
Looks great and natural...
It's always good fun to try and get something that's been "made" look like it happened naturally. Thanks for watching 😃
Great idea
Not everything for model railways has to cost an arm and a leg 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
Looking great. Nice to see you trying different techniques. I was wondering how you would scale down your static grass technique. Looks good, however I’m not sure (from how it looked on camera) that the 1mm added much to the effect! Thank you for making the stone walls available in TT… I’ve added them to my shopping list 😊
The 1mm acts more as a base to create a more consistent coverage and gives the 2mm fibres a bit of extra height. It's a subtle effect but without it the grass can look a bit patchy. Thanks for watching 😃
Interesting scenery techniques. Truth be told I almost exclusively model in O scale but I've been enjoying this series to learn new ways of laying track, ballast, and landscaping. I'm already planning on trying your double-sided tape trick on my layout and I might just try that grass too.
Yeah regardless of scale there's always a lot of tip and tricks we can pickup. I see no reason why the double sided tape wouldn't work for O gauge... with static grass you may want to use 2-6mm fibres to account for the scale. Thanks for watching 😃
This has been such a fun layout to watch you build. Looking forward to the next part. The stone walls look great too. GOD BLESS 🚂 💕 🚂 💕 🚂 💕
It's always nice to get some greenery on a layout for the first time! Thanks for watching 😃
Just while we "gauge" demand. Pun intended? 😅
Sort of 😅 With 3 different scales now in the works we need to make sure we don't under or overproduce for each one. Thanks for watching 👍
Just became a member !
Amazing, thank you so much! Don't forget you can watch the next episode in the series right away: ruclips.net/video/id5HrFzCcMw/видео.html Thanks for watching 🤩
Well done on getting Rails to sponsor. It’s coming together nicely.
It's definitely a big milestone to have them showing their support for the channel and as always I'd much rather promote model railway related businesses rather than take any old sponsor money! Thanks for watching 😃
Great job on the rocks. have you thought of putting a spot of black paint in the plaster when you mix it. It will hide ant chips the rocks get.
This isn't a particularly good idea as you need the rocks to be white for the painting technique I demonstrated to work. Otherwise you'll get a flat consistent colouring that looks really unnatural. I've never experienced the rocks chipping on any of the layouts I've built (which are all portable) so I don't know why people seem to think it's a common occurrence. Thanks for watching 😃
Very convincing, That Model Railway Guy, especially with trains running. Looking forward to those big changes you mentioned.
It does look good doesn't it! This is always the stage where things start to progress quite quickly and the layout starts looking considerably different... the Channel Members have had a taste of the progress already 😉 Thanks for watching 👍
I'm really interested to see this layout progress, for me looking at the track plan with that nice big terminus station, steep inclines, multiple levels of track in a close proximity, the goods yard it all strikes me as quite an city or built up town scape. Something akin to everard junction build but maybe more on the out skirts. So I'm definitely curious to see how you incorporate the rural country to a very busy layout
The plan is to have the left hand side of the layout be more urban with the right hand side featured today being more open countryside. The dividing line so to speak will be the cut through of the reverse loop be we have some plans to blend to two different scenes together. Thanks for watching 😃
Hi Philip here me and my girlfriend have TT scale to .as Iam trying to make a up over and under is it easy to do let me know
If you watch Episode 4 I showed how I did the incline in that. You'll need a lot of space to go both up and down as the models will slip on sharp inclines. Thanks for watching 👍
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy hi right ok then thanks for letting me know.i no I've been modelling with train layouts for years now but still get stuck
Hi do you take international orders? when I first saw your OO stone walling, I thought shame it's not available in TT:120.
Unfortunately not. We have looked into it but at this time it's just not possible for us to ship internationally. Sorry about that. Thanks for watching 👍
Great video and techniques you used. Looking forward to rest of series!
Thank you, it was nice to try out some new methods for this video. Lots more videos to come over the Summer! Thanks for watching 😃
Have you thought of having a duchess of atholl engine in your collection?
We have a Duchess on order... just waiting for the sound ones to arrive. Thanks for watching 😃
The route runs through a beautiful landscape. Just as a note, it is actually the same stuff as in hospitals. For example, the plaster bandage from the model making company Faller, if you open the brown packaging, you will find the bandage still packed in the hygienic protective packaging from the original Medic company 😅. But they still charge 10 times more for the outer packaging than the original medic product cost🤑. I personally only use the plaster bandage from the pharmacy, it is much cheaper.
Yes I'm pretty sure the stuff I use currently is the same even though it's branded as a craft material for kids... luckily it doesn't cost any extra and it's always better to buy in bulk as you always need more than you think in my experience! Thanks for watching 😃
Another really interesting video, cheers mate 👍
Really glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😃
I love the scenery you've done, it's always good to try new techniques and experiment with to get the look you want 😀
Yeah, while I could have just used static grass again part of what makes this fun is trying out new things to suit each scale and the setting of each layout. Thanks for watching 😃
Although TT is not a scale for me, it’s great to see the progress of the build. It was also great to meet you at the Bluebell last weekend.
Absolutely, regardless of the scale there are still plenty of tips and tricks to pick up. Hope you had a great day at Bluebell... it was great to meet so many people at the show! Thanks for watching 😃
The first time I saw synchro smoke way back in the 60s. I was hooked. This is just add so much realism.
I still have a Jinty with synchro-smoke kicking about somewhere that used to below to my Grandad... gave me a fright when I first tried to run it as it started smoking and I thought it was the motor! 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
This layout has been coming together very nicely so far, I can’t wait to see what comes next!
Thanks! Lot's more exciting stuff to come including the expansion of the scene created today and some more urban style scenics at the opposite end of the layout... It's gonna be a challenge to get it all done in time for the exhibition! Thanks for watching 😃
I love diesel because that was my era! My first memory of trains was going to London on the ECML in 1969 on an intercity train that I presume was pulled by a Class 55 Deltic. I remember the train pulling in and the shape of the locomotive but can't specifically claim it was a Class 55. Steam was still in open then but I don't remember a single thing about it apart from the dirty black soot covered train station ceilings!
Awesome, there's a good chance it was a Deltic to be honest! Thanks for watching 😃
Hey that model railway guy do you have any suggestions on where to find a J94 NO.22 in OO it’s mine and my mums favourite livery of the J94 annoyingly hornby doesn’t do NO.22 anymore
Hiya, your best bet is to keep an eye out on eBay in my experience as one may pop up there at some point. Also check out some of the model shops that have secondhand and preowned sections like Rails Of Sheffield or TMC as you never know what they might have in stock. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 🤩
Well that was an interesting technique! I've not done any ballasting yet, of normal track or points! However, I've been on the lookout for a simple and effective way of ballasting points, to prevent me from jamming up the mechanism with glue! I must admit that I'd worry about removing the points should they fail, or maybe some water would remove the stickiness? It can also be a hassle getting the rail joiners to mesh first time in N gauge, so I'd be worried about sticking the point down before it was joined to the track! I think I'll have a practice run though before I decide! Cheers for the idea, Ian.
If you really do need to remove the point, you can always try levering it up with a small screwdriver - that's what I did when some of my more tricky installations went a bit awry! For getting the rail joiners in place you could always connect up the next piece of track ahead of time, then press the point down into the tape and fix the track in place as you would normally. Personally though I always tend to use the points as fixed points and once these are in place join the rest of the track up. It's personal preference though but yes a practice run is definitely a good idea with all new techniques. Thanks for watching 😃
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy - Thank you! I know they can be levered up! :) Yes, I'm probably going to fix the points down first, then join the "dots" with track! Thanks again! Ian
If you can get thinner acetate sheet it will bend for the chassis of the Ruston whilst still providing enough resistance to raise the hooks. I found some from the side of a strawberry punnet that seemed to work pretty well.
Good to know! Thanks for watching 😃
Do you have to think the paint
Do you mean thin the paint? If so, no not in my experience. Thanks for watching 😃
Very nice. I really enjoy these visits to heritage railways. How is the 08 designed? Is there only one electric traction motor while the other axles are connected with the rod? Many thanks.
I believe the Class 08s have two sets of driving wheels. I'm not sure about the Class 11 in this video but I would assume it's the same. Thanks for watching 😃
Thanks for all the lovely comments on our layout. It’s really nice to see the concept of a train lost in the landscape being appreciated. Other people have observed that they find it.a little boring because it is, essentially, just a long stretch of single track.
I wouldn't worry about other people, it's a superb layout! Not every model railway has to have a four track mainline and personally I find single track operations a lot more interesting than lots of trains whizzing around in circles 😅 Best of luck with the build of Minffordd, I've been enjoying seeing the updates! Thanks for watching 😃
going to voulenteer there during my 6 weeks of

Steam is my favorites but the diesals are growing on me. Thanks for sharing the fun. GOD BLESS from America 🚂 ❤ 🚂 ❤ 🚂 ❤ 🚂 ❤
I know what you mean, older Diesels like this do have something to them! Thanks for watching 😃
Neat stuff!! Class 37 has got to be one of my favorite diesels. Quick question, do you think you can rearrange your Modular Model Railway playlist? It’s rather strange watching it in reverse. Edit: don’t think I’ve ever seen a Class 31 before. Neat little boxy boy.
Hiya, there should be an option in the playlist to toggle the order of videos. If you like the look of the Class 31 both Accurascale and Bachmann have brand new models of this loco dropping in the next few months! Thanks for watching 😃
1:18 I can almost feel the ground move as she rolls bye ! Love Charybdis though !
I know what you mean! Thanks for watching 😃
I never tire of hearing the lazy growl of a 37. The class 12 looked good too.

Very nice; thank you!!

How long ago was this? Beacuse 37 264 isnt in this livery anymore but great video

@@ThatModelRailwayGuy no worries it was a great video and when 264 was in a respectable livery
